Marie says,

<<Saving the stem cells for future use is one thing but I'd have to
think really long and hard before I actually ate my baby's placenta.
Frankly, I liked the plant a tree idea.>>

I have to say this fast before the list mothers remind us that placentas
aren't breastfeeding....but we buried Timothy's under the yellow rose bush.

The rose bush died.

Somewhere around here I still have the booklet that we wrote when I was
coordinator of the Family Birthing Center in Southfield MI (which was a REAL
alternative birthing center) called "101 Things to Do with a Used Placenta
and Other Oddities." Among the recipes for placenta stew, we figured you
could freeze it and play frisbie with it. And yes, Marie, this was the late
70's early 80's..... No discussion about it's hormonal value to ward of
PPD -- and yes, I thought they were harvesting them for shampoo too....was
that just an urban legend?
