one of the hospitals here still uses black face masks for entonox, a woman I
am supporting used this in labour and thinks she reacted to it - neck glands
became swollen and shortly afterward her tongue became white and coated. she
was treated with antibiotics which she and her baby reacted to. she
subsequently had candida in several sites, including her nipples and deep
within her breasts. it has taken several couses of antifungal treatment to
clear.
has anyone heard of face masks being source of thrush infection before, or
could it have been a coincidence exacerbated by the use of antibiotics? I've
searched Medline and found one reference where candida was cultured from a
face mask but setting and use was different, nothing obvious on lacnet
archives.

thanks
