I recently saw a lady breastfeeding a 6-week-old baby boy. The mother
had SEVERE pain in the breast during and between nursings. She described
it as cramps, and it certainly looked like it when she bends over
with pain. I prescribed fluconazole (history compatible with yeast) but,
six days after the beginning of the treatment, the lady has to think about
it to find herself somewhat
relieved. The baby gains well, take the breast OK, but the latch
seems fragile (palate a little bit high, maybe). Though she is continuing
treatment, I am starting to look at
diagnostic alternatives. Can somebody tell me more about "ductal cramps"?
And ways to relieve them ? Thank you in advance
