screamer.
he latched on long enough to transfer nearly an ounce. Then he started
screaming. We got him calmed a bit long enough to latch on again for a few
cycles of nutritive sucking and then it started again. Finally ended up
feeding him because we were getting no place.<<

I have seen one or two babies very much like this but probably not quite as
difficult! They were both hypersensitive to noise, touch, stimulation in
general and had probs with state control, particularly in early infancy ie.
would scream upon waking or fall asleep mid suck. Not one thing seemed to be
the magic panacea for these babes, what seemed to help was a combo of
sometimes minor changes very much like you described; lots of cobathing,
sling, swing with the cobathing being the most helpful in terms of nursing.
For one in particular, this seemed to be the only time this babe would nurse
somewhat peacefully! For both of these babes, my goal was to get them off the
bottles as quickly as possible but neither did, these Moms were just too
overwhelmed! I would still recommend it with this Mom though, how much more
miserable can he get and at 6 wks, he certainly isn't going to starve! I'm
sure you've suggested this but since it wasn't mentioned try wearing him and
offering the beast whenever he is peaceful or better yet half asleep!
