This belongs in the "now I've heard everything" category:

A pregnant mom called today to ask about pumps (she's planning to return to
college afterward). After THAT discussion, I said "One of the best ways to
get breastfeeding off to a good start by NOT having an epidural in labor."

Dead silence.

"But what if I need a Cesarean?"

The bottom line: she thought that if she told her doctor she wanted to avoid
drugs in labor, her decision would be carved in stone (irreversible) and she
would NOT be able to get pain medication if necessary when actually in
lablr! She insists that the instructor in her childbirth class told her
this. Perhaps - or maybe she didn't hear/understand the full story.
