If ever there was a "sacred cow" in this breast-bottle story it is the
formula companies and formula feeding. They are untouchable. Any
fool can say anything their little hearts and little brains desire
about breastfeeding (usually negative) on national t.v., radio, in
newspapers or to breastfeeding mothers. But what do you ever hear
negative about formula or the formula companies *unethical* and unfair
marketing methods, which, if they were done by other companies would
have them on the carpet in minutes? Big story on 60 minutes, right?
But not the formula companies, who agree that direct marketing is
unethical, but do it so blatantly that any cub reporter for the Daily
Planet could do the investigation in 15 minutes and come up with a
story.

Physicians, nurses, occupational therapists can belittle breastfeeding
and breastfeeding mothers and do, all the time. But we musn't make
mothers feel guilty for not breastfeeding.

If that book and that person is from Australia (the Bottle feeding
without guilt), she needs to do research. Her book quoted me,
accurately I should say, in justification of encouraging mothers to
breastfeed, as meaning women should not be pushed to breastfeed. That
is, how shall we say it, cheap? She also had me living in Toronto,
USA! aaaargh.

Just getting that off my chest.
