I have a young friend who works in a city recreation
center childcare who is very curious about
breastfeeding, attachment parenting, etc- She hopes to
be an elementary school teacher at some point so I'm
happy to have her pick my brain. :-)

Today's subject involved extended breastfeeding, all
of which caused my 3 yo to have to nurse at the dinner
table, and bottles as playthings. She asked if it
bothered me that the rec center had bottles among
their toys and I told her it does. I explained that I
want breastfeeding to be viewed as the norm, that
bottle feeding should be the exception, but I didnt'
get much into the "glorification" of bottle feeding
that I see. I thought I would defer to the Golden
Fingers of some of you wise women to discuss it more-

Can one of you eloquent people write a nice little
essay on the distaste you feel for bottles as
playthings; the ubiquitous bottle imagery? I'd like
to see them eliminated from these childcare centers,
and have something on hand that is better than what I
can come up with during a distracted dinner with my 3
children. I think it would be a handy thing to have
floating around the net in general. :-)
