Dear Pam,
I don't have my reference at home but Ruth Lawrence has written about Hep B
and hopefully some others will respond to you.
I am confused to what your role is at the hospital and how you came to know
about this case? If you work in the maternity unit and assist mothers with
breastfeeding, then why would you not be permitted to talk with the doctors
or patient? How did the director get involved? What some clinicians don't
understand is that they can't keep their clients in a bubble, isolated from
the outside. Especially now days with computers and the web.
Barbara Wilson Clay has brought this up in the past and her comments could be
found in the archives on ways to approach clinicians to help educate them
without alienating them.
This seems one of those times when the health professionals need education
but you want them to listen with an open mind.
Keep being the advocate.
