Hi,
My name is Kristi and I am a long time reader/lurker, but have never
posted. I am a RN in Special Care Nursery and Post Partum studying for my
IBCLC.

Yesterday I ran into an usual sitution and have a couple of questions. I
have a mom who is adopting an infant just born here. She wants to induce
lactation and was told to take Reglan and Fenugreek. I have known the use
of both of these to increase supply, but it seems like she would need more
like a hormone to actually induce lacation. What are your experiences. As
background she has not gotten pg due to PCOS and just started Metformin.

SO we were trying to get baby to latch using SNS. She has large breasts and
her nipples are almost flat. I have reverted to a sheild, but I have a hard
time getting the sheild full of breast tissue even after pumping, teasing
the nipple out etc. The baby sort of latched but it was more on the sheild
and he was able to get ABM from the SNS and does not pull the nipple fully
into the sheild. I am sort of at a loss as to help her. Mom does do a
great job at not getting to frustrated because she knows she will not beable
to exclusively BF, she just wants it as a bonding opportunity.

TIA for any suggestions.
Kristi
