With Michelle's thoughtful post about all the expertises we bring to our
passion, I can really see why Sam Doak is feeling very vocal in nursing
school!
Sam, when I was in school I was also quite upfront about the fact that we
wouldn't need so many nurses if we started our lives feeding normally. (I
didn't say it that way then - we had just started Lactnet!). I even wrote
the textbook publishers for several of my textbooks!
During our very last semester, I remember one last comment I felt compelled
to make. I prefaced the comment with, "I know I"m a violin with only one
string...." and God bless Jim Biernat, a classmate, who immediately said,
"Ah, but you play it so nicely."
So Sam, keep up the good fight. Sometimes all you need to say is, "I could
say more but just let me slip this one in." Keep it light but keep it
coming.

her through hike of the Appalachian Trail (my other velcro kids are visiting
in France after a semester in Poland, and living in Alaska...they will never
leave you, you know!!)
