recent (July 7.1997 Lancet) research has replicated data from New
Zealand about high concentrations of soy PHYTOESTROGENS "6 to 11 times
greater than those shown to produce menstrual cycle disturbances in
women". 13,000 to 22,000 times greater than normal concentrations of
estrogens found in babies bloodstreams! The author then goes on to make
preposterous statements like the low incidence of hormone dependent
cancers in countries consuming soy foods as a staple...is due to
exposure to soy phytoestrogens in early life!
I don't think so. They don't use formula in China and Japan!
To date there have not been *any* long term follow-up of babies fed soy
formula as adults. The very first test patients are reaching their late
20's now...Are they infertile? are they getting cancers? do they have
learning disabilities? who knows?
Don't take a chance. Even if you work like a fool, some mother's won't
be able to sucessfully nurse, or will need to wean early. Soy formula
has not been proven safe, even if babies seem to like it.
