I am sure that the gift-giving ideas come from the freebies that you -know-
who gives out to new moms to promote their product. I too would love to see
them go by the wayside but it's not happening in my lifetime at my
institution as the administration likes the free stuff :(

How about water bottles for moms with the hospital logo on it. Our place
gives these out to people in exercise classes, and our consortium gave them
out at a conference. It's a great way toadvertise services for free.

Sources vary, but call the 1-800-555-1212 information and get the phone
number for the Kipp company who does a lot of discount mail order stuff (like
for birthday goody bags, etc). They have a large selection of items that can
be personalized and are pretty cheap. Another company that may have cutsie
items for cheap is Oriental Trading Co (800-228-2269). Again, mostly party
type items but they occasionally have useful stuff that would be appropriate
for give-aways (be aware, they have pacifier-type toys and baby bottles as
well as balloons, which are always a no-no for me due to the choke hazards,
but some fo the stuff is very useful for giving away at programs, etc if you
get creative!!)
