I see this as a valid point (motivated Mamas wanting a rest), and using
mother's milk and cupfeeding can keep everyone happy, but as someone else
already said, it's more related to hospital environments that is causing the
fatigue.

Homebirthing mothers aren't as tired as hospital-birthing ones. Because they
(Mums who don't go to hospital) can control when they rest, as opposed to
being checked on every hour or having all-day visitors and being in a strange
place where they can't really relax. So if hospital birthing is to continue
to be the (statistical) norm, we need to change those factors. Eliminating
visitors, or only having private rooms where Dad can stay too and care for
the baby while Mum rests, or eliminating the nursery and the option of having
someone else feed the baby.

It's not easy, but these factors are what are affecting breastfeeding
negatively. And in an ideal world, it would be a priority to change them.

Kerri
