Organizing Ideas:

The book that has helped me the most to organize my business (and my life) is
Stephanie Winston's Getting Organized, Updated and Revised. The chapters on
setting up your home business were particularly helpful.

I, too, like the Sidetracked Home Executive books. I have a computer program
to keep track of my pump rentals, but I still use those 3x5 cards, too. It's
easier and quicker to find the information I need on the cards instead of
turning on the computer.

UCLA's Lactation Alumni Association newsletter had a list of of file headings
in their 1995/96 Winter edition. This might help you file all those great
ideas together in a way they can be found again.

I have eliminated notepads near my phone. Now, if a mother calls, I take all
the info down on standard 8 1/2x11 paper. I keep everything on standard
paper size. Less gets lost this way.

The two areas I'm still struggling with are: what to pack in my home visit
bag and how to develop a consult form that works for my way of doing
consults. Ideas? What do you keep in your home visit bag? What consult
forms do you use, or have you developed your own?
