I think I may used up my quota for the day :-(
1. Someone must stay in room and be responsible for baby and baby care.
2. Meds need to be checked.  Use Lactmed and Hale.
3.  If infectious, remember that baby has already been exposed to mom and BF 
will be protective (baby receives antibodies).
4. Mom needs decent electric pump for when baby is not there.  (Once had a 
mom in ICU.  Nurses there learned how to express milk for her as she was 
unable to do it herself.)  Emptying breast is simply a function of physical 
care for mom to preserve her well being (engorgement, pain, possible 
mastitis won't help her condition.) Our hospital had 2 electric pumps in 
nursery for moms.  Another pump was kept in central supply to be used on 
other floors.  Didn't use nursery pumps. In light of today's problems with 
MRSA this is important.

Maternity Settings. Jeannette Crenshaw
Lawrence and Lauwers both address hospitalization of the breastfeeding woman
