Kathy,
 Here is the social worker in me. I don't know the politics of
the situation, but If it is worth worrying about, it may be worth
finding out why, indeed, he is undermining you and his own partner.
Once you know what the issues are, it will be easier to address them.
What are his beliefs about breastfeeding, his personal experience
(his kids' etc.), his knowledge about breastfeeding? What is is partner's
view on what this is about?
There is plenty of research out there, but you have to find out if
that's what will speak to him.
