Wrote about BF and FEMA contact

"I have a close relative who is very high up in FEMA and who was sent to
Baton Rouge early last week in anticipation of the storm. After this has
all calmed down, and if he ever gets to go home, I plan to present him with
as much information as I can gather about breastfeeding and emergencies..If
anyone has any ideas as to how I can proceed with this, please email me
privately."

Pam, my suggestion is: Please, DO IT NOW! Get in touch with FEMA and have
them put you in touch with your relative. Do you have the "BF in a Crisis"
resources list posted on LACTNET? What about the LLLI press release about
BF in Emergencies, especially BF a baby who was formula fed for a few days
(mom's milk is right there, for Pete's sake, and the RNs are worrying the
moms about the formula running) and relactating for an older baby? Time is
of the essence. I have sent that info to the American Red Cross and have a
call in to the Salvation Army, but I don't know if anyone will act on the
suggestions. Hopefully, your personal contacts can be much more
effective...NOW.

The babies need the immunities and antibodies for the disaster that is yet
to come: the illnesses and diseases. The formula is providing nutrition
and hydration but it is not going to provide the immunities and antibodies.
I think this is so urgent and we are all trying to help in any way we can.
God bless you all.
