Babies with chronic health conditions, including cardiac conditions, are
at higher risk from childhood diseases. Mom should have a good
discussion with baby's docs about the baby's individual risk, and
strongly consider immunizing the baby. Babies with cardiac issues
generally do thrive better at breast than bottle, partially because of
the ability to self-pace the feeding to avoid overtaxing the baby's
aerobic capacity.

The mom with the allergic baby should probably not give her baby the
things she thinks the baby is reacting with gut irritation to in her
diet directly until well over a year of age, perhaps even 2-3 years. I
often advise moms of allergic babies to use a rotation scheme when
starting solids, avoiding giving the same food again for 2-4 days at
least. It makes detective work a tiny bit harder if baby does react, but
it can reduce the risk of sensitization to new foods.
