People who have been diagnosed with a pituitary tumor are placed on
medication to regulate their prolactin levels.  I am not an endocrinologist but this
appears similar to someone with a thyroid problem.  The medications are to
regulate what the body is no longer able to do.
So if a mother delivers and has a history of a pituitary tumor she should be
able to resume her medications but may need some adjustments.  This would seem
to be best regulated under the care of an endocrinologist.
Why this particular Mom is having problems with milk production could be
multi-facit.  Mothers that I have worked with who have a history of pituitary
tumors tend to make more than adequate milk because they have high prolactin
levels.
