Laura Spitzfaden, LLLL, IBCLC writes:

"I think that newborns are underserved as far as pain relief. While I use homeopathics for my own family, I do not believe they are sufficient for this type of pain. My son had a lip-tie release at 18 years old and it was very painful. He needed to alrernate acetaminophen and ibuprofen and was still very uncomfortable."

This has not been my experience at all. My granddaughter had both her ties revised at 1 week with scissors, my daughter had her TT lasered a couple of months ago at 19 and myself about 18 months ago. We all used homeopathy. In fact, I have attended several friends during or just after cesarean birth who used no medication whatsoever besides homeopathy and magnesium.
I do not think pain should ever be ignored, but I also think that the expectation that everything needs to be medicated with drugs is a very damaging one. IME, it is the stretching that causes most of the misery and that isn't any different whether you use drugs or not.
