Does DH stand for devoted husband? I don't have one. Been married
twice and divorced each of them for various reasons. I have three
daughters. My last ex works as a machine designer and has explained to
me why those cheap pumps don't work. Difficult to mold cheap plastic to
correct tolerances--machinery in order to work well needs everything
built to exact measurements. Cheap plastic, at this time, cannot be
molded exactly. Therefore, some pumps may go together well but others
will be off by thousands of an inch. Which explains why 1 out 10 cheap
pumps work and the others are useless. He is supportive of
breastfeeding and never made it an issue during our divorce(I had a
nursing toddler). He waited until she was ready to spend the night
which was when she was 3. She cried for me and he brought her home to
me. But eventually she got used to it, not necessarily liking it. My
youngest still talks about us getting back together again which is an
impossibility.

There has been a discussion about breastfeeding and breast cancer. I
wanted to comment on the statement,"women breastfeeding their first baby
in their 40's have a higher risk of breast cancer." This had to be taken
from the statistics that women, who have their first baby in their
forties are at higher risk for breast cancer. They just added
breastfeeding and it changed the whole meaning of the sentence.
Assuming that all women who have their first baby in their forties are
at risk for breast cancer, why should that stop you from breastfeeding?
We live in a world full of risks. I believe we always have to consider
the source of these articles. Statistics can be presented in order to
sway you to their point of view. Valerie W. McClain, IBCLC
