Watermelon makes you pee because it is mostly water, and we tend to eat large pieces of it because it is so sweet and delicious!   I don't know about cabbage... salt causes you to retain water, so it isn't the salt that causes it to be a diuretic, could be the sulfur tho I don't really know about that.  Could be other things.   Cabbage also has a high water content, but not so high as watermelon.   Just a few thoughts.  Michelle Scott, MA,RD,IBCLC in NH
