I have a client with low bone density for whom I've been doing some
literature digging. It *appears* (please set me straight if I'm off base!)
that women replace bone most efficiently when they are "lactating in the
presence of circulating estrogen" - or nursing after their periods have
returned. So the woman for whom bone density is an issue does best to
nurse for a long time at a level that doesn't trigger amenorrhea.
My client is taking Loestrin 21, an oral contraceptive. Does anyone know
what this does to her estrogen levels? Does it make them higher than
normal (which would be good) or lower than normal (which would be bad) or
does it pretty much mimic normal estrogen levels?
