Susan,
have you checked local thrift stores for original (all-cloth)Cabbage Patch dolls? Some of them had open mouths. Also, check out the doll patterns in the Simplicity Pattern book. Ask older women in your community (or church).....they may have older patterns, and be glad to make you one :)
