Maria,
Is the mom attaching baby lower jaw first a la Jack Newman's
recommendations.  (I refer to this as "leading with the chin".)  I
find that this helps get that lower lip turned out.  Since I have
used this approach, I have only had to "tweak" a lower lip out once
whereas before, it was a frequent intervention.  I find that is some
cases, as mom is lining the breast up in preparation for latching,
it almost looks like she is planning on putting the nipple up the
baby's nose!  Then once the lower jaw is placed well back on the
breast, the rest of the areola and the nipple go into the baby's
mouth.  Some of the best drawings are a paper titled "When Latching"
which you can find at the site named "firstfeast".
If this method gets that lower lip turned out, then she can pull the
upper one out once baby is attached and it's a lot easier than
pulling out the lower one.
