Hi All, I suspect you are referring to the Starter SNS, short term use, not the long term use SNS. I agree with Pat Young that the first choice would be spoon feeding. I've suggested it, I've used it with willing patients but get some strange looks from my colleagues and have been told "it's not allowed". In my work environment, while mother's are speaking breastfeeding, they are practicing bottle feeding because "I don't have milk yet". If I can show a mother that her baby, whose been given bottles, will nurse when there is volume, the Starter SNS is my tool of choice because I can reinforce feeding at the breast.  And yes, it is formula that she is giving her baby. Ultimately the mother drives the choice for supplementing. We only have a short window of opportunity. I at least need to make it as simple as possible.
