General practioners. has  a Case Study on Cracked nipples with excellent
pictures of a vertical crack along with questions and answers for what may
have caused it and how to solve the problem.
If you get hold of a copy may help you as it has a variety of reasons for
what can cause cracked sore nipples.The position and attachment check list
at the end of it points out that clicking noises or pursed lips during
sucking is a sign of poor positioning and attachment.It also gives ways to
improve position and attachment.
