Tonyt,

I appreciate your quandary and mixed feelings because I too think
constantly of the Afghanistan women and children and their plight.

I hope the U.S. learns a good deal from the history of attempts to invade
Afghanistan, both by England and by Russia.

However, deplorable the conditions effecting the refugees, except for
issues directly impacting breastfeeding and its maintenance, Lactnet is
not the place to debate the actual politics of war.

Each of us on Lactnet must husband her/his energies and time to focus
them on where one can do the most good. Debating such larger issues as
you introduced here detracts from that focus, and ultimately wastes that
time and energy which no one else but the likes of us will apply to
breastfeeding.
