Mary Kay asks,

<<What type of clearance is need for the
hospital volunteers who walk around an pass newpapers and ice water, or wheel
a
mom and baby down to the door?
Food for thought...and trying to help>>

That's a good question Mary Kay. And what kind of clearance is mandated for
all the other people that come in contact with the mothers & babies -- not
only her own visitors, but the visitors of the lady in the next bed....

Since any and all visitors are allowed to handle the baby, it seems a bit
goofy to think that a student LC that is simply shadowing an IBCLC for a day
would need to have the same workup as the student LC who is actually going to be
working with an IBCLC for 50 or more supervised clinical hours or for Pathway F
on the IBLCE track in which she is not only observing, but is getting in
there and doing some hands on.

So Micky, I guess it entirely depends on what you are going to be doing --
just sitting in a corner and observing, or are you planning to work hands on w/
moms & babies? I agree, if you are going to do that, then you definitely need
whatever hospital screening is mandated.

Drug screen, rubella titer, up to date TB test, and possible CPR
certification. You'll probably have to have some sort of temporary photo ID.
