Janet: It is entirely possible that low estrogen from breastfeeding could slow healing in the vaginal area.  Using a topical estrogen cream after the surgery would probably negate that effect.  I have some personal experience with a slow healing perineum that healed quickly after using estrogen cream.  And I second the motion to ask the doctor how post-c/s mothers manage to heal and breastfeed.  
 
Larisa: She may have low magnesium levels.  She may want to have her doctor check them, or she may just want to go ahead and add a  daily magnesium supplement to see what happens.
