Got this post from Kate Kelley-Mackenzie, a local Leader Applicant (and
future lactnut) who's newly pregnant with her second child; her first is
just past two and clearly has a good handle on milk production. I'd never
heard the prenatals complaint; has anyone else? Coincidence or not?

>> For the two weeks before I left I felt absolutely awful. I was
sleeping as much as I could, but felt terrible. I'd wake up
exhausted. I was surprised because with Aidan, I was tired but not
like that. In the evenings I would feel better and do things like
cook for the next day or vacuum. Somewhere in my brain dead world
I started to wonder if the prenatal vitamin I was taking before I
went to sleep could be making me feel so ill. (I didn't take them
with Aidan.) So I stopped taking them...and hey! I'm human again.
Tired, but I don't feel so awful awful awful.

My sister, Janeen, told me that she knows other women who have had a
similar response to the prenatal vitamins.

My milk supply has dropped. Aidan is getting used to it, but is
unhappy. For nights he was in tears asking "Why is there no milk?".
One night he insisted he was hungry and so we got up (at midnight) to
get him a snack. Then he wouldn't eat it, he wanted me to eat it. I
did, and then he said, "The food goes into your tummy and then up to
your breasts and makes milk!! Let's go nurse." Aiaii.
