Hello,

We are fortunate at our hospital to be able to offer donor milk for babies
on the postpartum floor who need supplementation for medical reasons. When
the need for supplementation is identified, parents are offered the choice
of donor milk or formula. We have a written consent for formula use, but in
the past have had no written material on the donor milk option.

So that we have something for these parents to read to learn more about
donor milk (which most of them have never heard of before), I am working on
adapting a donor milk handout that was originally written for parents of
babies in the NICU. I'm wondering if anyone else has written materials on
donor milk that they offer to parents of newborn nursery babies,
particularly any evidence-based information on benefits of short-term
supplementation with human milk (since most of the babies we are working
with will only be supplemented 1-2 days, until the mother's own milk is
fully in).

If you would be willing to share your materials, or experiences with
educating parents on donor milk, it would be very helpful. Thank you in
advance!
