Dear Lisa

The azathiopine is transformed in its active metabolite, mercaptopurine.
Half live of mercaptopurine : 1,5 h
Boud to plasmatic proteins : 20%
Pediatric dose : 1,5 to 2,5 mg/kg/d

Studies with mothers given 25 to 75 mg/d of mercaptopurine give the
following results :
dose in breast milk : 3,4 to 18 µg/l
maximum dose received by the breastfed infant vis the breast milk : 4,6
µg/kg/d
No iatrogenic effect seen in the children. The level of IgA in breast milk
of the mothers was perfectly normal.

Hope this help
