Dear Lactnet Friends:

Here's a modified (identifying details removed) post from a parenting list:

"I always swaddled my baby for naps and bedtime.  I had to stop when she was
8 months old because she was too wiggly to get into it. Anything that helps
your kid sleep is a-okay. Towards the end of our swaddling era, I caught
myself saying, "okay, let's get you into your straitjacket" .

What will the impact on personality be as a result of this use of
commercially sold swaddling devices?  And at some level, the mother is
knowing what she is doing, when she puts her baby into the "straitjacket."
