Hello all,

Question from a mom:

"I've just been pouring [expressed milk] it into the Medela freezer bags
after pumping and then putting the bags right in the freezer. I haven't
been chilling the milk first. Is this correct? I looked online and found a lot
of conflicting information - Some sources say you must chill it for an hour
or two, while others say it should be frozen immediately. Of course, most
sources don't say anything at all, which implies that it doesn't matter.
I'm hoping it doesn't matter, as I would hate to waste all the milk I have
stashed away."

I did remember in a food safety course I took to work with homeless folks,
we were told that hot, cooked food should be cooled before refrigeration.
As with a lot of this, we sometimes have to just use good judgment. EMM is
not cooked, nor hot like recently cooked food, but it is warmer than a
freezer.

Comments?
Thanks,
Peace,
Judy
