I'll let Jennifer Tow or other wise women speak to this, but, at the
risk of generalizing, what some health-care professionals see or tests
show as normal can still be sub-optimal, especially in combination with
other things. A suck can be in the normal range but a little weak... no
problem if the milk supply is generous, definitely less-than-optimal if
the breasts are slower to keep up and the baby sleepy. That's when
things become pieces of a puzzle, and when we see that how the mind is
looking at the past and the future is just as important as how the
nipple fits in the mouth.
