The thing that jumps out at me (and made me SOL -- snort out loud) is the
doctor noting how thin the mother is. Gosh, do you think genes could be a
factor here??? Also, I don't have the standard weight charts around right now,
but 19 lbs at 15 months does not sound that low. On the low side of average,
maybe, but that's still "on the charts" isn't it? The doc wants her to
supplement with Pediasure, which is essentially a **breastmilk substitute** for
toddlers. Why substitute an inferior product for the real thing? Mom's milk
is still more calorie- and nutrient-dense than almost any food she can feed the
baby. Oh, and let's not forget that a child who is not interested in eating
solid foods often has a very good reason: food intolerance or allergy. I hear
it anecdotally all the time.

This mom would benefit from an LLL meeting, where she would be likely to hear
from moms with experiences similar to her own!
