Hello Brenda,

Radiation causes two types of effectts, depending on the dose.

Low radiation doses cause "stochastic effects", where damage to cells
result in mutations and cancer time after exposure.

High radiation doses cause "deterministic effects" where a significant
number of cells are damaged in a way that causes cell death. This
results in damage to organs and may lead to death of the irradiated person.

There are cases where radiation treatment causes deterministic effects,
mostly burns to the skin and other tissue. For damage to result, tissue
must already be there. An eight year old would not have glandular tissue
that could be damaged by poorly delivered radiation treatment. And I
cannot think of any mechanism of radiation interaction with her organs
and tissue that could result in not enough glandular tissue after breast
development occurred.

I think that there is something else going on and that radiation is not
the reason for this mother's low milk supply.

Best Regards,
