I've actually seen 2 cases of strep mastitis in recent months in my
private practice - both were bilateral, one presented as mastitis, the
other as erysipelas, so it must be making a comeback. I'm very grateful
to have an awesome BF Medicine doc to refer to who will culture (skin
scrapings, not milk) and treat appropriately while mom continues to
breastfeed.
