Celina,

This was also my understanding (and I also noticed that the information I posted was updated in 2007) that I am to perfom to the best of my abilities for a mom who contacts me through LLL as a LLLL, but if LLL liability insurance doesn't cover me doing so, that leaves me feeling very vulnerable.

I am glad we are having this conversation because it needs to be clarified.

From the LLLI website-"Home visits and "hands-on" help are within the scope of LLL leadership and are covered by Leader liability insurance, despite persistent rumors to the contrary. (The only exception is if a Leader is paid for her services. Only volunteer help is covered under LLL's insurance plan.)*" -updated in 2007

I have also spoken with other leaders who are not IBCLC and who do assessments. If hands-on help means that I may only touch a mother or baby then I have completely misunderstood hands-on help. I think I need to have a conversation with my DA and see if she will help clarify this for me. If I am incorrect, then I obviously need to do things differently.
