To all you interested souls out there. Two mothers were ejected for
breastfeeding in public in the last two weeks her in The Cincinnati area. See
today, Mondays, issue of the Cincinnati Enquirer. Both were nursing in out
of the way places, one in her fitness clubs nursery, the other on a bench
outside the womens dressing room in Wall-mart. There is a nurse-in planned .
If you live in the Cincinnati, Dayton area and wish to join us E-mail me
for the particulars. The mothers are themselves organizing this. We in the
state of Ohio need to be writting and calling our Legislators. Rep.Grace
Kerns, (Fairfield) who originally introduced a bill three years ago was
reported to have said that she receive no letters or support for the bill she
introduced to protect a womans rights to breastfeed in this state, so the
bill died. ( I remember writting letters) I have spoken with two male
legislators (Rep. VanViven, Sharonville & State Sen. Sam Bateman, Clermont
Co.) who are willing to vote positively for bill should one be introduced
again. We need a sponser now. We are hoping for something like New York, or
Florida's. If any one out there has a actual copy of one of these pieces of
legislation please send it along to me. Both mothers are commited to getting
a bill passed. One mother has written the ACLU and is planning on filing with
the Civil Rights Commision, the have agreed to take this on. I'm hoping this
OK stuff to send to Lact-Net, I think it is any way. Dee Keith IBCLC,
LLLLEADER, mother of ten, PR director for Tri-state Breastfeeding Advocates (
our local BF organization). KEITH X [log in to unmask]
