Hi everyone, I got a call today from a woman who is 20 weeks pregnant ,
last nursed 8 months ago. Three weeks ago she started with intense
enlargement of both breasts, but the right one got red, bruised and more
painful than the other. No new drugs, foods, teas, illness, etc...no fever,
malaise, like mastitis. She was told to call me, so I called her OB who saw
her today, and the OB said it looked like a bad case of postpartum
engorgement. I have not seen the patient yet. The OB didn't think it is an
infection. She is getting alittle better with ice, but has had it for 3
weeks, and never had such enlargement of breasts with her last preg. I told
the OB to check her thyroid tests, liver function tests, and her prolactin
level. The woman has no secretions. Any thoughts? I suppose it could also
be gigantism, but usually that will occur with each pregnancy. Help me in
