I have a mother exclusively breastfeeding a 5 month old who has been
diagnosed with gallstones. She has been prescribed 12 capsules of Biloptin
(apparently an oral contrast medium) to be taken all at once twelve hours
before an X-ray. I have looked this up in Drugs in Preg and Lact, but it
refers you on to another drug and another one and seems to talk about
vaginal iodine douches (not the same thing at all!) The X-ray is being
delayed until we can find out the effects of this medication on the nursing
infant? Can anyone help? (and if so could they e-mail me privately in the
interests of speed - and to the list?)

Thanks so much

Pamela, Zimbabwe
