I am working with a mum who has a very sick baby, they are not exactly sure
what she has but this baby is13mths old and is the developmently at the
level of a 2 month old. The mum was told that the baby didn't need
breastmilk after 5 months and it wasn't important they could give the
"special" formula to the baby and don't both to continue to pump. This mum
had a great milk supply after pumping 5 months and baby was doing well on
her breastmilk but stopped under the instructions of the doctors. She was
so upset she even through out all her pump equipment. She has never felt
good about this decision. Now 7 months later she wants to try and relactate
at least to give what milk she can pump to her baby. She has started
pumping, and taking fenugreek, blessed thistle and domperidone. Has anyone
had experience with this length of time for relactating. She started this 2
days ago and today had several drops of milk on the end of her nipple. She
feels good.
Any encouraging words would help.
Thanks again
Carole Dobrich
