Hi all
I had an interesting call today. Mother has a 10 week old who will not feed
when sitting up. She is flying overseas in 2 weeks and wants to sure that
the baby will feed while she is flying.

Her history is as follows
baby would feed when she was sitting upright till 3 weeks ago.
In early days there is strong evidence of overactive letdown
feeds on demand though she waits till baby cries
When feeding will arch back and cry - will not attempt to attach at all

The suggestions offered are
skin to skin
play and walk round bare breasted
gradually prop herself up on pillows
co-bath
use diamontee type jewelery to attract and dirvert attention
try breastfeeding outside the home eg at a park near home
feed standing up while talking and singing to baby
use early feeds instead of crying to offer feeds.
If there were any signs of overactive letdown, contact me again for other
suggestions to overcome this.

Does anyone else have an suggestions for this mum?

Thank you
