I tried to do a search in the archives on anaesthetics and only found
information on mum having anaesthetic. My son is having heart surgery and
I would like to obtain information about breast milk being a clear
substance. I would also like to know if the no food or drink guidelines are
different - he's exclusively breastfed. I'm hoping I can convince them to
schedule the surgery for noon or early afternoon so I can nurse him all
through the night; it would be less upsetting for him (and me) if he were
denies during the day when he can be entertained and often goes longer
between feedings. I'd also like to know what the norm is for how soon I can
feed him after the surgery. We'll be talking to the hospital next week to
schedule the surgery and I'd like to have a little advance information so
I'm prepared for if I need to try to negotiate with the doctor to feed him
as long as possible prior and soon after. I'm behind on reading my e-mail
so I'd appreciate a private post so I don't have to scroll through a digest
to find a reply.

Thanks in advance.
