I'm loving this twin thread! Thanks to all you mothers of twins who've
written here - isn't it amazing and wonderful how different we all are? I
wrote about why I nursed them one-at-a-time, Bonnie had the opposite
experience with hers, and several others have checked in with their own twin
experiences. So interested to hear about Linda Inglis' 24-yr. old twins who
ended up as room-mates in college; my daughters are just facing the college
separation thing, and it's clear it will be a big hurdle for them despite a
(so-far) lifetime of wanting to be separate!

I never went to a Mother of Twins club mtg - who has the time, when your
babies are little, and who cares, when they're bigger - but I knew I
wouldn't like it anyway. I didn't plan to make being the mother of twins the
central feature of my identity; having twins is just one of those things
that happens. Can I admit something in this spot? Sometimes I feel the same
way about women who make breastfeeding their whole "thing" in life! Yes,
helping women to breastfeed is what I do for a living, and yes, I am
passionate about every aspect of the subject, and yes, I've been know to go
to extremes in support of BF moms/babies, but I always feel uncomfortable
with women who make their breastfeeding status some sort of holy platform
they use to separate themselves from other mothers.

And WOW don't we learn a lot here!!! This whole engorgement/heat/ice thing
has been really informative and thought-provoking. Who would have thought
that such heated controversy could arise over such a "dull" (well, maybe to
others) subject!
