I need some new ideas for this mom to try. She is one of our best
mother/baby nurses.

I have permission to post. Mother has 2 older children. Began nursing 1st
baby with admission to hospital for surgical drainage of bilateral breast
abcesses, soon after birth. With 2nd baby mother took oral prophylactic
antibiotics, and same thing happened. The OB and surgeon have both
instructed her not to ever nurse again, as these infections are life
threatening. They also, wonder if mother might have milk ducts that do not
have an exit. Of course now she has scar tissue also.

Mother is planning to remarry soon and they want a baby soon. Mother wants
very much to breastfeed the baby. We would like to help her with a plan,
that might assist in prevention of of this severe problem.

My thoughts. Many mothers have accessory mammary tissue, which is milk
ducts with no exit, and they do not have this severe problem. Do we all
normally have some milk ducts with no exit? I wonder if even if she does
not put baby to breast will the same events proceed just from initial
lactogenesis engorgement?

Thank you

Anyone ever see this before, and were you able to prevent with a plan?
