bfing. He said to me: What are you going to do, wait until he starts
speaking in full sentences? Anyway so many drugs used to treat MS and he
refuses to do anything until he is convinced I have stopped bfing. Since we
live in rural NM I am pretty screwed in finding another doctor without
driving for hours which hurts my legs. Very frustrating and very sad that
doctors do not educate themselves to bfing and what meds can safely be used.
Instead they want to bring trauma to my son, which is what happens when I
try to refuse him the breast."

Racquel, there must be a way you can free yourself from this MD's
manipulative behavior and still get medical care. My reaction is to seek
legal advice from BF-friendly sources. It has to be illegal for him to refuse
to treat you. You have the information that there are drugs that can be
used while BF. If you present him with both pieces of information
(illegality of his behavior and compatible drugs), he hopefully will change
his mind and will treat you. Is he not aware that he could be reported to
his professional board? What is the opinion of those on this list-serve who
are knowledgeable about the law and how to go about handling this?

The decision to BF as long as your child needs to is your child's, not the
MD's. Also, he is YOUR child and you make final decisions for your child's
welfare. The only concern the MD should have is the safety of the drugs,
not the age of the BF child. The MD needs to keep the two issues separate
and remember which is his responsibility. This has to be so hard for you.
I send you a big e-HUG.
