Hi everyone,
I came upon a problem recently wherein a mother who was exclusively
breastfeeding her 4 month old baby, was told by the paediatrician to start
giving her baby solids. She was quite concerned and stated that she asked
the paediatrician several questions. She alleged that the paediatrician
stated that starting solids at 4 months help babies with speech development
. The chewing motion help babies to talk earlier the mother said was the
rationale that was given to her.
Has anyone heard of this?
It seems so far fetched to me. It appears to be only another ploy to shorten
breastfeeding when we are working so hard to promote and extend same.
Please give me thoughts on this. Thanks.
